Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production

From bowls decorated with cultural elements from Western Asia to kettles inscribed in Arabic, the collection displayed at the Museum of Tongguan Kiln Porcelains in the Wangcheng district of Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province, sheds light into the area's glory as an important porcelain base for centuries.

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region’s long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.

These were a key base of export-oriented porcelain products in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). (Video: Lin Hanqing Reporter: Liu Xiangrui)
