A friend from afar: Friendship and hospitality in Confucian culture

As the 11th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations approaches, global voices continue to reflect on the timeless wisdom of Confucius.

Constantine Vuscan, vice-president of the Romanian-Chinese Friendship Association, shared that his favorite Confucian quote is: "Is it not delightful to have friends coming from afar?" He said that for visitors from distant places, feeling welcome is a wonderful experience.

Having visited Confucius' hometown of Qufu, he felt a deep connection with the philosopher’s ideas. "Confucius is not just a Chinese figure – he represents something essential in human culture," he said.
