Young volunteers' quiet role in Gyirong relief effort

After a devastating mudslide struck Gyirong Port in Southwest China's Xizang autonomous region on Aug 26, 27-year-old Hao Zhen and 16 other volunteers from the "Go West" program joined the relief effort.

Working behind the scenes in Gyirong town, the volunteers arranged accommodation, distributed supplies and helped provide meals for displaced residents and rescue workers.

Hao said his comrades and himself were committed to playing their part wherever the motherland and the people needed them.
